Lizzie Duemig, PhD, has an extensive background in education, law enforcement, and research. She holds a doctorate in forensic psychology and dual master’s degrees in education and philosophy. Duemig taught in the public school system for eight years before becoming a police officer. She maintains licensure as a Master Peace Officer and has worked for municipal, county, and federal law enforcement agencies. An expert witness, she has testified in cases ranging from serial sexual predators to capital murder and death penalty trials. Duemig has also researched prolific criminal behavior, threat assessment, and threat management, advising K-12 schools, universities, hospitals, and houses of worship on safety planning.
Duemig's real canine companion is Sage, a white lab/husky mix, who she adopted as a rescue puppy after the loss of a fellow officer. Sage is the inspiration behind "Travels with Sage" and provided comfort and healing. The two quickly became inseparable. Sage's calming, almost spiritual demeanor aligns with Duemig's steadfast faith. Together, the duo has visited 23 states, exploring national parks and unique landmarks. A casual blog about their outings inspired friends to suggest she write about their adventures. Thus, Travels with Sage was born.
